Great is Thy Faithfulness!
by Melchee Johnson
On my long list of sheroes and heroes are those who’ve stood in the face of trials and tribulations and come out as overcomers—those who’ve declared that the Lord is their shepherd, their great I Am, their wonderful counselor and mighty God. Karen Sutton is now on that list. She was diagnosed with and fought grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma cancer and survived. But she’s not on the list for that alone; it’s how she conquered cancer—as a courageous woman of God allowing unwavering faith to be her guide. And she’s helping other women do the same.

Karen Bennett Sutton is a compassionate and driven individual who wears multiple hats in her professional and personal life. As a devoted wife, loving mother to two daughters and a bonus daughter, a new grandmother to her sweet “honey baby,” family holds a special place in her heart.
Karen is a successful entrepreneur as the owner of both Pursenality and Accessories, LLC, a boutique located in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Consider It Done Events (also in Raleigh) where she orchestrates memorable occasions for her clients.
Beyond her professional pursuits, she selflessly dedicates her time to the Urban Missions Manna team where she serves food to homeless and displaced citizens, exemplifying her commitment to making a positive impact in her community. Her latest undertaking is the founding of the Pink Faith Foundation, a nonprofit organization sharing awareness of breast cancer and celebrating other survivors who’ve courageously “rang the bell,” as she did herself on February 24th of last year. The organization’s second annual Breast Cancer Awareness Gala took place October 19, 2024, and featured a phenomenal keynote speaker, vendors, and a fashion show.

At the core of her being, Karen is a devout Christian who finds joy in encouraging and helping others. Her love for God guides her actions, and she consistently seeks ways to inspire and uplift those around her.
